Note: Master Cathy Downey and Downey's Taekwon-Do is mentioned in the book "A Killing Art: The Untold Story of Taekwon-Do" by Alex Gillis (2008). The General asks her to perform Taekwon-Do's pattern for beginners, Chon-Ji, which means "heaven and earth" - a series of punches and blocks that can immediately indicate the proficiency of a martial artist, no matter what the belt level. "Very good," he says when she finishes. "What school are you from?" "Downey's TaeKwon-Do, in Newfoundland," she says. The General is impressed. She demonstrated excellent poise and power.
