The above pictures show General Choi, the legendary founder of Taekwon-Do signing his book "Taekwon-Do and I".  It reads "To Scott Downey, pioneer of Taekwon-Do in Newfoundland, March 19th 2001. The book was signed during General Choi's first and only visit to Newfoundland in March 2001 to conduct an international Instructors Course.

The above picture shows Mr. Downey with General Choi Hong Hi (middle), and Grandmaster Park Joong Soo 9th Degree Black Belt and pioneer of Taekwon-Do in Canada, in front of Cabot tower on Signal Hill.

 

 

Mr. Downey singing and playing "The Ode to General Choi" at General Choi's funeral service in Toronto, Ontario. General Choi died on June 15 2002. Mr. Downey wrote the song for General Choi to commorate General Choi's first and only visit to Newfoundland to conduct an International instructors course in March 2001. The above picture is the cover page of the "4 year University Master Plan" document that was written by General Choi and Mr. Downey. Mr. Downey still has the handwritten notes given to him by General Choi when Mr. Downey attended the first Masters Seminar in Austria in 2002. This document was one of the final contributions to Taekwon-Do that General Choi made prior to his death. His goal was to establish a Taekwon-Do university degree program.
