A message from the mother of one of the children (Chloe North) in our Little Dragon's Program: "Master and Mrs. Downey, I want to say thank you for all that you have taught Chloe. She has learned lessons far more valuable than physical moves. You both have a fantastic way with children, especially the shy ones. They bloom right in front of our eyes. Thank you.
A message from Mr. Steve Byrne and his son Alex (Both who
achieved the rank of Black Belt and are still members of our Black Belt class):
"Master Downey & Mrs. Downey: Just wanted to take this
opportunity from Alex and myself to thank you for your support and help in our
reaching Black Belt level. As a person with Arthritis, I honestly never thought
I’d get this far (in fact I had my doubts about getting to green belt).
However, your teaching methods and exercises certainly have helped me in keeping
things at bay from a health point of view. You should be proud of all you have
accomplished and know that you are doing good work. Not everyone gets positive
feedback in their day to day lives as we tend to focus our energies on the
problems and take the good things for granted. So please take a moment to know
that you have helped a lot of people in maintaining a healthy lifestyle – no
small accomplishment. In any case – just wanted to send a note of thanks – a
lot of pride in the Byrne household this weekend – have a great summer and see
you in the fall."
A message from
Derrick Walsh (Housing Administration Officer at Newfoundland and Labrador
Housing) regarding our self-defense seminar for staff: “Master
Downey, I have to say that the self-defense seminar was very informative and the
training atmosphere very comfortable. Everyone is talking about it here today
and the comments are all very positive. I’m sure we will be availing of your
services in the future. Yourself and Mrs. Downey work so well together. Thanks
so much for showing us basic methods of self-defense. It was very enlightening
to say the least.”
A message from one of our Red Belt/Black Stripe students, Ms. Christine Hennebury (Mount Pearl "Citizen of the Year" recipient) who also has her two sons and her husband in our Downey's Taekwon-Do Mount Pearl location: "Learning Taekwon-Do has been one of the most positive changes I ever have made in my life, and I'm glad I chose to learn with Master Scott Downey and Mrs. Cathy Downey - they truly make this martial art about the whole person."
